Los Angeles Artists Give Back to Those Who First Gave to Them in 2010 gem, A Multi-Media Art Exhibition & Reception to Benefit the Los Angeles Art Association, Featuring Work by Emerging, Mid-Career & Well-Known Artists on April 24th

Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA), a nationally recognized non-profit art organization, will kick-off its 85th anniversary year celebration with its gem fundraiser on Saturday evening, April 24, at Gallery 825 on La Cienega Boulevard. With over 200 affordably priced multimedia works, the event allows everyone to be an art gem collector. Guests will have an opportunity to purchase artwork by Lia Halloran, Alexandra Grant, Brad Howe, Alex Couwenberg and Meeson Pae Yang as well as work by emerging and mid-career artists. A limited number of VIP Reception attendees will have the first opportunity to preview and purchase the gems from 6pm to 7pm. Regular admission starts at 7pm.

Many of the artists contributing work to the gem exhibition are either current or former members of the LAAA, and view the fundraiser as an opportunity to give back to an organization that has played a critical role in their own professional growth. LAAA artist Meeson Pae Yang whose celebrated Dispersion installation was a highlight of the 2010 LA Art Show considers the organization to be instrumental in her success, “Without question, the Los Angeles Arts Association has been the most critical resource and platform for me as an emerging artist. It is the catalyst and launching point for the current work I am involved in and the many exhibition opportunities I have

been afforded. There is no other organization in Southern California with this extensive reach and ability to provide exposure, experience, and networking opportunities for artists.”

The annual reception and exhibition is widely embraced by the Southern California art community and leading collectors as an important showcase of emerging art trends. William Turner and Alexandra Gleysteen are serving as Benefit Co-Chairs and Otis College of Art and Design President, Samuel Hoi; Producer/Actor, Henry Jaglom and West Hollywood Mayor, Abbe Land are among the many distinguished cultural figures on the gem planning committee.

The fundraiser supports LAAA’s mission to provide resources, services and exhibition venues for emerging LA area artists of all media. Samuel Hoi notes, “LAAA plays an important role in Los Angeles’ artistic ecological system. The accomplishments and diverse artistic voices underpin the success of LAAA as a forum for artistic dialogue, shared exhibition opportunities, and mutual support.”

As LAAA Executive Director Peter Mays states,” Our gem benefit is the best place to discover emerging talents at the onset of their career paths and while they are still affordable to a broad base of collectors…it’s also the best party of the spring art season.”

Take your own art gem home on the night of event. All proceeds benefit LAAA and Los Angeles’s emerging artist community.
